MOVIES ABOUT RAF
Czechoslovak airmen in the RAF took part in some movies, series, documentaries and songs after WW2. Some of them can suprise you. Becuse our living history group 276th Sqdn (reenacted) RAF acted in some of them, we will add pictures and other informations about it.

2. SVĚTOVÁ VÁLKA - NEDÁME SE
Just two parts were made from whole series History of Czechoslovak military aviation. Second part, Nedáme se – We never surrended describe participation of Czechoslovak airmen in fight against Nazi Germany in Poland, France and RAF. Our living history took part in making of this second part.

Movie about „low class“ and very nonconformist in socialistic Czechoslovakia. One of část in this movie is former RAF airmen, who work in this movie as streencleaner. This character died in this movie and his friends prepared for him very special burial.
BALADA O PILOTOVI / BALAD ABOUT PILOT
This movie is based on story of Karel Balík, RAF pilot. Some parts of ths story is not real, but is based on memories of author of the script, than on reality. But this movie describe very good post war atmosphere in „liberated“ Czechoslovakia. (Where communist taking over power in our country.)
It was pleasure for us took part in first sequences of this movie.
DEJTE NÁM KŘÍDLA / GIVE US WINGS
Our living history group were active on making of this documentary with some of our friends and colleagues. We were actors and advisors too. This documentary has five parts.
This documentary describe era from establishment of Czechoslovakian Air Forces till end of WW2.

HŘBITOV PRO CIZINCE / CEMETERY FOR STRANGERS
I think, that this movie is first Czech or Czechoslovak movie, which shown terrible destiny of Czechoslovak airmen, who served in RAF, after WW2, how communist regime treated with this heroes.
The strongest moment in this movie is polka Roll out the barrels and figures of young men in dark blue uniforms of RAF, which failed to return from WW2.
In a book Jiří Maňák, airmen from south Bohemia, is written, that source for script of this movie was his experience, when he met former gunner of German AA, which shot down his plane. Both met in one truck, which was theirs working place.
MUŽ, KTERÝ PŘECENIL ČESKOU DUŠI ANEB ÚTĚKY JOSEFA BRYKSE / MAN, WHO ESTIMATED CZECH SOUL – ESCAPES OF JOSEF BRYKS
Documentary made in production of the Czech Television about Josef Bryks, MBE, fighter pilot in RAF and victiom of communist concentration camp after WW2.

NEBEŠTÍ JEZDCI / Riders in the sky
Classical Czechoslovak war movie and the best Czech or Czechoslovak movie about Czechoslovak airmen in RAF. This movie was made without any real plane. Completed after occupation of soldiers from Warsaw pact. Some of Czechoslovak RAF veterans, including one WAAF veteran, were advisors for making of this movie.

NEPŘÍTELEM OSUDU / Enemy of destiny
Enemy of destiny was made with attendance our living history group. This movie portray life and death of great hero, František Truhlář, Air Gunner and later fighter pilot. He was burnt two times and was recovered by Archibald McIndoe as member of his „Guinea oig Club“.

OSUD NA NEBI JOSEFA JANEBY / DESTINY ON SKY
Destiny on Sky of Josef Janeba describe life and death Josef Janeba, fighter pilot in 312 Squadron. This movie, made with our attendance, was directed by Ondřej Krejcar, Josef´s relative.

Czechoslovak movie, which was made in turbulent time, not very happy wor it. It was made short time before November 1989, when fall down communict regime in Czechoslovakia. That´s reason, why this movie is not very famous. We gave information for almost 40 years, that everything from East is the best than in this time people were really interested in everything from West. This movie is about Czechoslovak airmen, former fighter pilot in RAF, which applied for Czechoslovak squadron in USSR. Despite the fact, that this movie is not the best, that cover real part of our history. Some Czechoslova airmen really left RAF and went to USSR to fought in Czechoslovak unit there.
Otakar Fuka, assitand of director of the movie Riders in the Sky and Assassination (Atentát) was director of this movie. And my advisor, when I prepared meeting of authors and actors of the movie Riders in the Sky. Unfortunately, I got too late information, he died. That this short text is my late farewell.
TMAVOMODRÝ SVĚT / DARK BLUE WORLD
Second our movie about Czechoslovak airmen in Royal Air Force. Part of it describe, how communist regime acted with war heroes, second part is about theirs war service.
ZDIVOČELÁ ZEMĚ / LAND GOES WILD
Series about postwar life of fighter pilot Antonín Maděra. (His character is fictious). This series describe his life after comeback home, in to village near borders with Germany, till 1990´. It describe his life and communist bullying of him and his family and friends.
