Commemoration of shot down crew of B-17

Víska – Višňová, 7. 3. 2015

During this event we commemorate crew of B-17 USAAF shot down near Víska in North Bohemian Region. New monument dedicated to members of bomber crew was unveiled during ceremony, people could visit exhibition dedicated of USAAF and RAF equipment and hear some lectures.

Day of open doors, air base of Czech Air Forces

Our exhibition Wings in exile, prepared for commemoration of 75th anniversary of establishment of most of Czechoslovak squadron in the RAF, was exhibit as part of this event. This day of open days is traditional and very popular event, visited by plenty of people and offer very interesting programme, including our part.

NATO days

Thanks to our cooperation with Regional military HQ we attended with our exhibition Wings in exile very popular event NATO Days – very large air show held in Ostrava.

Hundreds or possible thousands people saw our exhibition Wings in exile and exhibit of RAF and WAAF equipment.

Expo militaria – Meeting and presentation of living history groups and theirs activities

Josfov, 26. 9. 2015

We were invited to attend event Expo Militaria, which was held in k. u. k. fortress Josefov. This event was conected with many sacrifice – we had to wake up at 4 a. m., but when we came , it was absolutely fantastic. I never forget, as we entered other part of fortress and we entered empty atelier, with fantastic sculptures, including sculptute for remembrance of dead horses in Austro-Prussian war, decent light and silent music. která se konala v Josefově, respektive v někdejší vojenské pevnosti Josefov. Outside this place we saw white horse. At first, I was really not able to say, if it is sculpture, animal or ghost.

Many other living history group took part in Expo Militaria, including some lectures (including ours). Thank for invitation and good care about us.

People from village Bratčice never forget theirs native – Vilda Jakš, famous boxer and Air Gunner in 311 Squadron RAF. We attended theirs commemoration ceremonies regularly and every time is for us very nice event.

Boxers match and very interesting exhibition about life of Vilda Jakš, probably source for future book, were part of whole event.

It was honour for us to help with this event, with help of Mátl and Bula company and our friends Jiří Hofman and Petr Radoch.

We like events as in Bratčice and we will comeback to this village, because this event is very good prepared.

Commemoration of Karel Janoušek

Memory of leader of Czechoslovak airmen in the RAF was commemorated in anniversary of his death. It was held in front of his new grave in Šárka cemetery. This event was attended by representatives of Czech government, Czech Armed Forces, relatives to the general janoušek and military and civilian organisation, including our living history group.

Meeting of representatives of state, commemoration events were part of whole event dedicated to 75th anniversary of Battle of Britain, which was prepared by our living history group and its leader, organisation secretary in Czechoslovak Association of Legionaries in this time.
